Drift Challenge 2010 | The french drift championship

2010 TECHNICAL RULES

Article 1 : Definition

Drifting is a motorsport where the driver controls his vehicle sideways during a slide induced on a track car. It takes place on an asphalt track and is judged on speed, angle, method and style.

Article 2 : Organization

This year, we will group all the drivers who want to compete in a friendly challenge on French territory. Each event will be preceded by technical and administrative checks. Each event will include, voluntary testing, qualifying and a Top 16.

Article 3 : Insurance

The liability insurance is required on each round.

Article 4 : Commitments

Commitments to Drift Challenge 2010 will be validated upon receipt of:


- The registration form for the round

- The signed release of liability

- The signed settlement


Closing date for entries will be one week before the event

The number of participants may be variable depending on the circuit and will be explained at the announcement of the event.

The organizers reserve the right to reject one or more pilots based on their actions or behavior in an other event

Entry Fees

The price for participation is set to: ___ euros. (depending of the track)

The price will include 3 pass. 1 for the driver + 2 for the escorts.

Extra pass: 7 euros (depending of events accompanying the rate may change).

Article 5 : Crew

Only the driver will be present in his vehicle during the course of the challenge, no passengers will be tolerated. (Unless specifications at the handle)

In case of mechanical failure driver may use a different car in a position where it meets the requirements of technical control.

A driver may not use a vehicle other than that it has used for his qualifications.

Article 6 : Security / bond / specifications

The following items will be inspected for roadworthiness before each event. No vehicle may take the runway without Technical control.

1 - Security :


- Rollbar mandatory standards FIA (40mm diameter Japanese standards tolerated *) 6pts minimum.

- Bucket driver seat mandatory FIA standards (validity not mandatory for 2010)

- Harness 4pt minimum aero mandatory FIA standards (validity not mandatory for 2010)

- Laminated windshield mandatory.

- Film of blatant anti-binding. (Minimum 2 front windows)

- 2 kg extinguisher mandatory minimum.

- Fuses compulsory, accessible, visible and indicated. (It must be able to cut the engine running).

- Zipper circuit breaker required.

- Towing mandatory. The vehicle must be equipped with front and rear ring and will be easily identifiable. They must bear the traction.

- Dual brake system mandatory.

- 2 mirrors mandatory.

- A rearview mirror advised.

- Helmet required standards.

- Balaclava, gloves, shoes recommended.

- Combination of compulsory non-flammable type.

- The Hans system is allowed provided that all the standard described in the settlement of the FFSA is respected. (See below for additional information).


* Attention to the regulations of the European Drift Championships ! We advise you not to make wrong choice on this.

It is important to understand that for the drivers safety nothing is too much.

2 - Bonds :

Any vehicle on the start must to be in satisfactory condition, body parts properly attached, no loose objects inside the vehicle.

Tanks of gasoline, oils, various fluids and the pipes will not leak. (The use of a specific fuel tank is allowed, but many suffer in TB control).

The positive battery terminal must be isolated, the battery is properly fixed.

3 - Specifications :

STARTING

All vehicles must be equipped with a starter and a battery in good working condition.

ENGINE

- No restriction on the type of engine used. A swap (engine or another brand) is permitted.

- No engine size limit

- Turbo (s) and / or compressor are permitted without flange.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT

No restriction.

EXHAUSTS

You must used a muffler

Many controls can be made during the challenge.

The maximum level in dB will be 95 to 75 percent of maximum rpm. (This paragraph will be confirmed at the announcement of the event).

Any violation will result in the elimination of the participant if he does not find solutions during the Event

FUEL

All fuels are allowed *, additives and octane boosters allowed. (* Except LPG)

TRANSMISSION

Only type vehicle propulsion are allowed, 4WD vehicles will still be tolerated. Changes gearbox or bridge are allowed.

CHASSIS

The chassis will be from a series vehicle and approved, it may have undergone many changes in welding to strengthen it.

Tubular chassis are not allowed to race in the 2010 Drift Challenge.

ROLLING TRAINS

No Restrictions

BRAKES

Any improvements authorized and recommended.

Hand brake and hydraulic splitter accepted.

The brake must act on four wheels and must be in perfect working condition.

TYRES

Slicks unauthorized, semi slick tires yet registered route are permitted.

COOLING

All additional cooling is allowed.

A system of éinjection water or other authorized systems.

LIGHTING

All vehicles must be equipped with front and rear turn signals of warning, rear position lamps, 2 stop lights in good working condition.

Article 7 : Advertising

Each participant must MUST implement the stickers on his vehicle sponsor of the event provided by the organization.

The personal advertising on cars is allowed.

Any other action or commercial advertising is prohibited without express permission of the organizer. (Mounting stand with the sale of products or other ..)

Article 8 : Track

The course will be materialized by curbs, paint stripes or Cones.

Only vehicles involved can move on the path.

Any other vehicle or person on foot is strictly prohibited. (Except organization)

Any driver under an obligation to stop his vehicle at any point of the circuit will soon be stored so it can be a gene or a danger to other drivers. However, it is permitted to fall from his vehicle except in cases of force majeure.

Any driver who momentarily stopped on the track will leave to ensure that the rehabilitation is safe.

Vehicles involved in accidents or unable to move stands to be towed. It is strictly forbidden to push his vehicle.

Repairs can be done in designated areas only or outside of the track.

All the damage perpetrated on the circuit (such as loss of oil or other) will result in costs of repair by the owner of the track, will be paid up to 100% by the driver, without liability to the organization.

Article 9 : Pits

A space for vehicles participating in the challenge will be made available to competitors on an area called "Zone Stand".

Any dangerous behavior in this area may be a reason for exclusion (speed, stop, burn etc. ...).

This decision may be taken by the organizers.

Assistance vehicles are limited to one per driver. Parking for private cars will be available.

Trailers or trucks will have a specific location

Scooter / ATV are allowed in the chamber unless special restrictions. Canopies or tents allowed if space permits.

Article 10 : Event proceedings

Briefing :

The briefing is mandatory, it will be specified time and place during the tests.

All drivers must sign an attendance sheet, the drivers were late by more than 5 minutes (or not coming at the briefing) that will penalized two points on their final result for the round. (This note does not apply to drivers who are in the organization).

The drivers must be present with their vehicles at least 15 minutes before the start of each session. (Essays, qualifications, top16, etc. ..)

Tests :

Trials are available, they will however be optional.

Qualifications :

Any driver involved will be present qualifications. The number of passes are limited to four on the area of trial.

The first passage will be the warm up lap unrated.

The other three will be graded and only the best passage of three will be validated for the qualification.

The sixteen best scores will be selected to enter the TOP16.

TOP16 :

The 16 selected pilot will go through both before the jury, the number of passes is fixed at three. first passage also called "warm up", followed two other passages marked.

Each driver will start once the first two passages judged.

Any changes must be made of tires between heats.

In case of failure in qualifying or TOP16, the pilot will have five minutes to put his vehicle in and resume the course of the challenge.

Article 11 : Judgement Criteria

Qualifying:

Each participant will start with 100 points.

The scoring area is evidenced by the judges and specified at the briefing.

Points will be deducted according to the following criteria:

1 - Input speed curve.

2 - Track / Passage to clipping point (apex shown by a plot)

3 - Angle

4 - Fluidity, style, consistency

Will result the loss of all points:

Head-tailed

Large-understeer

Runway Excursion

All the criteria for deducting points and trial will be resumed and specified by the judges at the briefing.

The 16 highest scores will advance to TOP16.

Top 16 :

The two participants will share 10 points each time.

The driver with the most points wins the battle. In case of equality in the two passages, another run of two passages may be asked by judges.

The criteria of judgments are:


1 - Input speed curve

2 - Switch to clipping point

3 - Angle

4 - Fluidity, style, consistency

5 - Near the vehicle continued


Touching "strongly supported" by another vehicle will result in loss of points of the vehicle at fault.

Any contact with an obstacle will result in loss of points in the driver concerned.

Overtaking will be for the following car only if:

The first line out of his race and if the excess while it is resumed without slipping grip or grip and without affecting the other.

We recommend that you do not try overruns nuisance because we often found occasions to bond with little or no perceived by pilots practitioners.

Any excess off the racing line or "grip" will be in favor of the overtaken vehicle.

In the same framework as the qualifications, all head to tail, large or understeer off the track will result in loss of points in the driver concerned.


All these criteria will be taken by judges at the briefing.

The judges will be your only possible interlocutors, the organizers are not judges and may not participate in a judgment.

Article 12 : Awards

An awards ceremony will be held at the end of each round.

The top 3 will receive a trophy.

A bonus and / or lots will be awarded to the top 3 drivers, they will be specified before each event.

Article 13 : Standings

Each race will award points to drivers according to the classification below:

The scores will be accumulated throughout the challenge and determine the winner of Drift Challenge 2010.

Article 14 : EXCLUSION

The organization reserves the right of Exclusion for:


- Behavior deemed dangerous in the stands.

- Behavior deemed dangerous on the track

- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs

- Non-compliance with rules of previous articles.


We remind you that taking alcohol or narcotics is strictly forbidden during rounds.

The testing will be done, if the control is positive it will result in the permanent expulsion of the round.

Exclusion leads to a heat loss of results, points, marking the inning.

The exclusion order will take effect immediately.

Depending on the seriousness of non-compliance, the organization will decide in the next week on the reinstatement of the driver for the next round
